genovate official siteThe GENOVATE Community is a platform which enables GENOVATE partners to share institutional information and case studies, and facilitates the coordination of a buddy system for bench learning.

The GENOVATE Community consist of seven GENOVATE partner institutions; the GENOVATE International Advisory Board; key strategic collaborators and stakeholders and the general public. It is a mechanism designed to facilitate meaningful knowledge exchange across the community at local, national and international levels within each of the partner institutions’ countries, across Europe and globally.

Workshop on gender

The FUI – Datacenters management team participating in a workshop on gender facilitated by Paula Wennberg October 11, 2016. How to attract more women to the region’s datacenter industry and what makes a working environment more inclusive are some of the topics of the day. We also learn more about norm critical view and norm creativity.

GENOVATE Gender and Diversity Toolkit

GENOVATE gender and diversity toolkit aims to promote sustainable change through integration of gender equality and diversity perspectives in research and innovation systems. This toolkit is intended for experienced as well as new innovators and people who want to learn more about how understanding gender and diversity can lead to more innovation in their everyday lives. The toolkit illustrates a process and methods how academic institutions, social innovators, funding agencies, knowledge transfer partnerships, and intermediaries can use gender equality and diversity tools. The toolkit is developed by the GENOVATE Consortium in the work package 5.


Gender Observatory on University and Research at UNINA

In order to ensure the sustainability of GENOVATE project at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, the Gender Observatory on University and Research has been established in our institution.

The Gender Observatory aims to promote:

  • Studies and research projects to integrate gender perspectives into scientific knowledge and academic  activities
  • Research projects on evaluation methodologies and evaluation criteria used at the international scale in order to identify gender and diversity-sensitive tools
  • Data analyses of women’s presence and careers across all areas of academic work and activities (teaching, research, social work and community development, governance, administration, etc.); regular updates of gender-sensitive statistics and context analyses necessary to carry out gender budgeting in cooperation with the university’s administration
  • Monitoring and evaluation of innovative ways to support women’s careers in academia in order to foster gender equality on campus
  • Gender-sensitive fundraising in order to further advance gender equality

The Gender Observatory consists of four research areas:

  1. Gender Studies in Science and Technology (Coordinator: Dr llenia Picardi)
  2. Gender and research evaluation (Coordinator: Prof MariaCarmela Agodi)
  3. Gender Budgeting and statistics (Coordinator: Dr Antonella Liccardo)
  4. Women’s career in university and research (Coordinator: Dr Ofelia Pisanti)

Regional Equality Day in Luleå, Sweden

Sharing good practices and showcasing successful equality work carried out in Northern Sweden 2016 will take place on the Regional Equality Day on September 14, 2016 in Luleå. During the day the winner of the award for the best equality work will be presented. Among the nominees is Paula Wennberg, Luleå University of Technology. Swedish advocacy platform for SwafS in H2020

The Swedish advocacy platform for Science with and for Society (SwafS) in Horizon 2020 discussing strategy and planning for future activities. Paula Wennberg is one of  twelve platform members who participate in the meeting on the premises of the Swedish Research Council in Stockholm on September 5, 2016.

The aim of the SwafS programme is to promote effective cooperation between science and society, to recruit new talents for science and pair scientific excellence with social awareness and responsibility.

VA Public and Science https://v-a.se/ is the coordinator of the Swedish advocacy platform gathering together fifty Swedish actors to increase the Swedish participation in SwafS. SwafS operates in following areas: Gender equality, RRI (Responsible Research and Innovation) Governance, Public engagement, Science education, Open Science andEthics.

The first graduating cohort of EARMA’s European Certificate in Research Management

European Certificate in Research Management

The Certificate is a professional qualification designed to provide individuals with the opportunity to acquire and demonstrate strategic and operational management knowledge, skills and experience. This course is designed for individuals with at least four years of experience in research management and administration, gained in several of the areas covered by the certificate units. Gender and Diversity is one of the mandatory course units.

Mandatory Units:

  1. Developing and Implementing Policy and Strategy
  2. Understanding the International and European Research Environment
  3. Managing and Supporting the Development of a Project Portfolio
  4. Gender and Diversity in Research Management
  5. 5.Working with Management Information

Optional Units:

  1. Identifying New Opportunities for Funding
  2. Managing Legal and Regulatory Requirements
  3. Optimising Unit and Organisational Effectiveness
  4. Supporting the Development and Implementation of Organisational Systems and Processes

European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) represents the community of Research Managers and Administrators (RM&As) in Europe. The members work in industry, academia, the public and private sectors. EARMA works with the EU Commission, national and international funding agencies. EARMA provides a networking forum, a learning platform, and a place to share experiences and best practice among RM&As throughout EARMA and in the wider RM&A community.

As a GENOVATE stakeholder EARMA has been supported by Luleå University of Technology in the development of the Gender and Diversity course unit.
