The GENOVATE Community is a platform which enables GENOVATE partners to share institutional information and case studies, and facilitates the coordination of a buddy system for bench learning.
The GENOVATE Community consist of seven GENOVATE partner institutions; the GENOVATE International Advisory Board; key strategic collaborators and stakeholders and the general public. It is a mechanism designed to facilitate meaningful knowledge exchange across the community at local, national and international levels within each of the partner institutions’ countries, across Europe and globally.
Professor Jonas Ekman, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden has been awarded the Leader of the Year in Norrbotten Prize. Jonas Ekman who is a member of the LTU GENOVATE Advisory Board received the prize for his modern leadership. Leader of the year in Norrbotten is an annual award and the jury had a record number of nominees to choose between this year.
- Through his focus on development and a strong belief in his colleagues, Jonas Ekman has contributed to the growth of the university and his department with 170 employees. He also strives for increased number of women in terms of both professors and students in a traditionally male-dominated field and has been successful in attracting researchers from other parts of the world to come and work at the department.

Sharing good practices and showcasing successful equality work carried out in Northern Sweden 2016 will take place on the Regional Equality Day on September 14, 2016 in Luleå. The Swedish advocacy platform for Science with and for Society (SwafS) in Horizon 2020 discussing strategy and planning for future activities. Paula Wennberg is one of twelve platform members who participate in the meeting on the premises of the Swedish Research Council in Stockholm on September 5, 2016.
The aim of the SwafS programme is to promote effective cooperation between science and society, to recruit new talents for science and pair scientific excellence with social awareness and responsibility.
VA Public and Science https://v-a.se/ is the coordinator of the Swedish advocacy platform gathering together fifty Swedish actors to increase the Swedish participation in SwafS. SwafS operates in following areas: Gender equality, RRI (Responsible Research and Innovation) Governance, Public engagement, Science education, Open Science andEthics.

European Certificate in Research Management
The Certificate is a professional qualification designed to provide individuals with the opportunity to acquire and demonstrate strategic and operational management knowledge, skills and experience. This course is designed for individuals with at least four years of experience in research management and administration, gained in several of the areas covered by the certificate units. Gender and Diversity is one of the mandatory course units.

European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) represents the community of Research Managers and Administrators (RM&As) in Europe. The members work in industry, academia, the public and private sectors. EARMA works with the EU Commission, national and international funding agencies. EARMA provides a networking forum, a learning platform, and a place to share experiences and best practice among RM&As throughout EARMA and in the wider RM&A community.
As a GENOVATE stakeholder EARMA has been supported by Luleå University of Technology in the development of the Gender and Diversity course unit.
LTU’s Sense Smart Region (2015-2017) project http://en.sensesmartregion.se combines data from sensors and open data into useful information, and provides tools to present the information using augmented reality. The first two years the project will focus on building a platform, and the last year, companies and organisations will build services and products based on the platform. The collaboration with GENOVATE aims to promote e.g. more gender-aware management of the SSR project.
