genovate official siteThe GENOVATE Community is a platform which enables GENOVATE partners to share institutional information and case studies, and facilitates the coordination of a buddy system for bench learning.

The GENOVATE Community consist of seven GENOVATE partner institutions; the GENOVATE International Advisory Board; key strategic collaborators and stakeholders and the general public. It is a mechanism designed to facilitate meaningful knowledge exchange across the community at local, national and international levels within each of the partner institutions’ countries, across Europe and globally.

Swedish advocacy platform for SwafS in H2020

The Swedish advocacy platform for Science with and for Society (SwafS) in Horizon 2020 discussing strategy and planning for future activities. Paula Wennberg is one of  twelve platform members who participate in the meeting on the premises of the Swedish Research Council in Stockholm on September 5, 2016.

The aim of the SwafS programme is to promote effective cooperation between science and society, to recruit new talents for science and pair scientific excellence with social awareness and responsibility.

VA Public and Science https://v-a.se/ is the coordinator of the Swedish advocacy platform gathering together fifty Swedish actors to increase the Swedish participation in SwafS. SwafS operates in following areas: Gender equality, RRI (Responsible Research and Innovation) Governance, Public engagement, Science education, Open Science andEthics.

The first graduating cohort of EARMA’s European Certificate in Research Management

European Certificate in Research Management

The Certificate is a professional qualification designed to provide individuals with the opportunity to acquire and demonstrate strategic and operational management knowledge, skills and experience. This course is designed for individuals with at least four years of experience in research management and administration, gained in several of the areas covered by the certificate units. Gender and Diversity is one of the mandatory course units.

Mandatory Units:

  1. Developing and Implementing Policy and Strategy
  2. Understanding the International and European Research Environment
  3. Managing and Supporting the Development of a Project Portfolio
  4. Gender and Diversity in Research Management
  5. 5.Working with Management Information

Optional Units:

  3. Optimising Unit and Organisational Effectiveness

European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) represents the community of Research Managers and Administrators (RM&As) in Europe. The members work in industry, academia, the public and private sectors. EARMA works with the EU Commission, national and international funding agencies. EARMA provides a networking forum, a learning platform, and a place to share experiences and best practice among RM&As throughout EARMA and in the wider RM&A community.

As a GENOVATE stakeholder EARMA has been supported by Luleå University of Technology in the development of the Gender and Diversity course unit.

Collaboration between the Sense Smart Region (SSR) project and GENOVATE project

LTU’s Sense Smart Region (2015-2017) project http://en.sensesmartregion.se combines data from sensors and open data into useful information, and provides tools to present the information using augmented reality. The first two years the project will focus on building a platform, and the last year, companies and organisations will build services and products based on the platform. The collaboration with GENOVATE aims to promote e.g. more gender-aware management of the SSR project.

Discussing GENOVATE results at EARMA AC 2016

Achievements of the GENOVATE FP7 project are discussed at the EARMA Annual Conference June 20-22, 2016 in Luleå. Carina Mattsson and Maria Hjelte present how the Human Resource department is implementing a gender-aware and sustainable recruitment process at Luleå University of Technology (chair: Paula Wennberg). In an other session the GENOVATE Toolkit is launched and demonstrated by Paula Wennberg and Arne Gylling presents how gender dimension is being integrated in the OPTi H2020 project (chair: Ylva Fältholm).

The aim of the OPTi H2020 project is to create a long-lasting impact by rethinking the way district heating and cooling systems are architected, controlled and operated.EARMA, European Association of Research Managers and Administrators is active in the GENOVATE project as a stakeholder. Centre for Distance-spanning Technology (CDT) at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) is a research, design and innovation joint venture between the core partners, Luleå University of Technology and the IT industry. CDT has an extensive network covering private and public sectors, multinational enterprises and SMEs as well as academia and non-profit organisations. Gender mainstreaming at CDT started in 2008 to enhance innovation. CDT's innovation and gender platform supports staff and CDT partners with gender expertise, tailored tools, methods, best practices and consultation. CDT collaborate with 150 national and international partners meaning that CDT can make difference not only in our institution but in a wider context.

GENOVATE @FESTA Conference

Workshop on how to integrate a gender perspective in research projects, programs and funding applications at the FESTA EU FP7 project conference on June 8, 2016 at Uppsala University, Sweden. Workshop facilitators: Ylva Fältholm and Paula Wennberg.

This conference with 50 participants from Swedish universities and funding agencies was organised by FESTA in collaboration with four EU FP7 sister projects: GENOVATE, GEDII, GenPORT and GenderTime.
